Terms of Service

Last updated October 18, 2026

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of Homesteader (the “Service”), operated by Homesteader (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The service

Homesteader is a web application for designing, maintaining, and planning land and property. We may add, change, or remove features over time. We may also suspend or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, with reasonable notice where practicable. Planting dates, climate figures, measurements, and cost totals in the Service are planning aids. They are not a survey, a forecast, or professional advice.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. You are responsible for the activity that occurs under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. Notify us promptly at cameron+support@homesteader.farm if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Subscriptions and automatic renewal

New accounts include a 7-day free trial. The free trial is not charged, and creating your first property during the trial is not a charge. After the trial, continued use of paid features requires a subscription that renews automatically each month until you cancel. The price is $7/mo per property. Quantity equals the number of properties you own. There is no property cap. People you invite to a property (up to 10 per property) are not charged, and a property they create for themselves is billed to them. Adding or removing a property changes the quantity and is prorated. We may change the price for a future renewal period. We will notify you before that change, and it takes effect on the renewal after the notice. Payments are processed by Stripe, and your use of payment features is also subject to Stripe’s terms.

Automatic renewal. Your subscription continues until you cancel. It renews monthly at the then-current stated price. You can cancel online at any time on the Billing page in the Service. On that page, “Manage subscription” opens the Stripe customer portal, where you complete the cancellation. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period. You keep access until that date, and the subscription does not renew.

4. Refunds and cancellation

The free trial is not charged. You can cancel any time from the Billing page, which opens the Stripe customer portal. After you cancel, you keep access until the end of the current paid period, and the subscription does not renew after that. Removing a property lowers the quantity, and Stripe prorates that change. Other subscription payments are non-refundable, including unused time and features you do not use. We do not offer refunds or credits beyond those prorations. Where the law requires a refund, that requirement applies.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the property plans, designs, and other data you submit (“Your Content”). You grant Homesteader a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, reproduce, and display Your Content only as needed to operate and provide the Service to you and the people you invite to your account. The license ends when you delete the content or your account ends, except for copies we must keep to comply with the law, resolve a dispute, or enforce these Terms. You are responsible for Your Content and represent that you have the rights needed to submit it.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) use the Service unlawfully or to infringe the rights of others; (b) attempt to disrupt, overload, probe, scan, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems; (c) upload malware, harmful code, or content you do not have the right to submit; (d) scrape, harvest, or resell the Service, or provide it to third parties, except as these Terms allow (including inviting members of your household); or (e) use the Service to harm another person or to send unlawful or deceptive material. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by Homesteader and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights in the Service other than the limited right to use it in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service except as the law expressly allows.

8. Warranty disclaimer

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or accurate, or that planting dates, climate data, measurements, or cost figures will match conditions on your land. Homesteader is a planning and recordkeeping tool and is not a substitute for professional engineering, surveying, agricultural, legal, or financial advice. Some jurisdictions do not allow the disclaimer of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Homesteader will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, whether or not we were advised of the possibility. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the fees you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim. If you paid no fees in that period, our total liability for that claim will not exceed zero dollars. These limits apply to all theories of liability and survive even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Homesteader harmless from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of Your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or of someone else’s rights.

11. Termination

Either party may end the relationship. You may stop using the Service at any time, and you may cancel a paid subscription as described above. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if we must do so to comply with law or to protect the Service or other users, or if we discontinue the Service. Where practicable, we will tell you before we do.

When access ends, your right to use the Service ends. The license you granted us ends except for the copies described in these Terms. Ending the Service, or canceling, does not refund fees already paid, except where the law requires a refund. Sections that by their nature should survive — including ownership of content, acceptable use, the warranty disclaimer, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law — survive.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the last updated date above and notify you by email or through the Service before the change takes effect. If you keep using the Service after that date, you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, cancel and stop using the Service before the change takes effect.

13. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The state and federal courts located in Oregon are the exclusive venue for disputes arising out of these Terms or the Service, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts. This section does not take away any right you have under the law of your place of residence that cannot be waived, including rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act.

14. General

If a court holds a part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms. Homesteader may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of the Service. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and Homesteader about the Service and replace earlier agreements on that subject.
